  • IOTA integrates Pyth Network, bringing real-time financial data to its Rebased testnet and upcoming Layer 1 mainnet.
  • The IOTA Rebase upgrade introduces smart contracts, staking, and gas-free transactions, enhancing scalability and DeFi adoption.

IOTA has taken a major step forward in expanding its ecosystem with the integration of Pyth Network Core into its new Layer 1 mainnet. This development brings real-time financial market data to the IOTA network, enhancing its infrastructure for developers.

As of today, Pyth Network is live on IOTA’s Rebased Testnet, allowing builders to integrate high-quality price feeds into their applications. With Pyth’s price feeds already in use on over 100 blockchains and by more than 500 applications, this integration strengthens IOTA’s position in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.

Pyth Network Joins IOTA Rebased Testnet

IOTA confirmed that Pyth Network Core will be integrated into its upcoming Layer 1 mainnet, making real-time financial market data accessible to developers and users. The announcement also revealed that Pyth Network is now operational on IOTA’s Rebased testnet, a crucial step ahead of the mainnet launch.

This integration enables builders to seamlessly access Pyth’s price feeds, which aggregate market data from over 100 first-party providers, including major exchanges and market makers. The feeds cover a broad range of asset classes, including US equities, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Platforms such as OKX and Binance already leverage this feature, which will now power DeFi projects within the IOTA ecosystem, including Deepr Finance, Virtue Money, Cyberperp, and Iolendfi.

Pyth’s price feeds operate across 100+ blockchain ecosystems, supporting Ethereum, BNB, Avalanche, Solana, Cosmos chains, Aptos, Sui, Ton, and NEAR. Developers building on IOTA’s MOVE-based Layer 1 can now integrate these feeds into their applications. Those interested in contributing to the ecosystem can also apply for the IOTA Labs Builder Program, designed to support innovation on the network.

IOTA Rebase Upgrade and Its Growing Features

IOTA is preparing for its Rebase upgrade, which will add smart contracts, staking and scalability. According to IOTA’s recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, the Rebase update will improve the user experience and bring more adoption.

One of the features of this upgrade is the IOTA Gas Station, which will eliminate the need for native tokens to cover gas fees. This will simplify dApp interactions and make it more accessible. Staking rewards will also be introduced with an annual percentage yield (APY) between 10% and 15%. IOTA holders will soon be able to stake their tokens, and validators will have to participate from the start to maintain network security.

During the AMA, IOTA’s co-founder, Dominik Schiener, said the Rebase upgrade is still in development, with final security audits and exchange integrations ongoing. No official release date has been announced, but early estimates say March 2025.

Strengthening IOTA’s DeFi Ecosystem

With Pyth Network’s real-time price feeds integrated, IOTA is strengthening its infrastructure to provide financial data for developers. This will enhance DeFi applications, liquidity protocols and the creation of advanced financial instruments within the ecosystem. As reported by ETHNews, IOTA is bringing key validators to its rebased test network to make sure security and decentralization.

The network is flexible for builders, enterprises, and governments to build DLT projects while ensuring secure interactions. IOTA’s focus on trust and verifiability makes it a strong player in the blockchain space to address the need for secure digital transactions.

IOTA’s decentralized structure allows scalability without compromising security; that’s why many developers and organizations choose IOTA for DLT solutions. With the rebased test network gaining traction and more validators joining the ecosystem, IOTA is moving fast in the blockchain space.
